About Arthritis, Rheumatic & Bone Disease Associates
An Independent, Single-Specialty Rheumatology Practice Established in 1974
When Dr. Sheldon Solomon founded Arthritis, Rheumatic & Bone Disease Associates, his goal was straightforward: build a practice devoted entirely to rheumatology, where every physician is trained specifically for this work and where patients get care built around their condition. More than fifty years later, that mission hasn’t changed.
At our offices, we diagnose, treat, and medically manage arthritis, osteoporosis, and other inflammatory and autoimmune disorders that cause musculoskeletal pain and joint inflammation. We’re not a general internal medicine clinic that handles rheumatology on the side, but experienced specialists who understand your condition and how to support you long-term. Our mission remains what it’s always been: to help you live better, longer, and more comfortably.
If you’d like to schedule an appointment or get a second opinion at one of our offices, we’re ready to see you. Call us at (856) 424-5005 and we can help you find the location most convenient for you!
Physicians Who Have Shaped the Field
Dr. Sheldon Solomon isn’t just the founder of this practice. He’s a Fellow of the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certifications in rheumatology, geriatrics, and bone densitometry. The American College of Rheumatology has conferred on him the designation of Master, awarded to members who’ve made outstanding contributions through scholarly achievement and service to patients, students, and the profession. It’s the highest distinction that the organization awards. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Arthritis Foundation and the National Fibromyalgia Association's Physician of the Year Award in 2008. These aren’t incidental honors; they reflect a career built around patient advocacy and advancing the field of rheumatology.
Dr. Mark Fisher, a founding partner and Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology, has served as a clinical investigator in multiple phase 2 and phase 3 clinical trials for new biologics and medications for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. His direct involvement in that research means our practice has been involved in treatments that are now the standard of care in our field.
Innovations Inspired by Patient Needs
Arthritis, Rheumatic & Bone Disease Associates completed its first in-office biologic infusion in 2001, pioneering that model among independent rheumatology practices in New Jersey. The reasoning was practical: patients managing serious inflammatory conditions shouldn’t have to navigate a hospital system just to receive an infusion. Today, our seven IDYLLIC Infusion Treatment Centers across our broad service area complete as many as 29,000 infusions for over 8,000 patients in one year. Every infusion is supervised by an on-site medical professional, and treatment is available at substantially lower cost compared to hospital-based infusion programs.
That same commitment to bringing advanced care directly to patients shapes our in-house diagnostic ultrasound program. In the early 2000s, when no U.S. rheumatology-focused ultrasound training programs existed, Dr. Amy Evangelisto pursued advanced training in Leeds, England, becoming among the first American rheumatologists to do so. She holds certifications in both diagnostic and therapeutic musculoskeletal ultrasound, a combination that’s rare in an independent practice setting. She served as President of USSONAR, the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists, from 2012 to 2014, and she continues to lecture nationally on musculoskeletal ultrasound. Scans at our center are always interpreted by a rheumatologist, not a general radiologist.
Ready to Meet with One of Our Rheumatologists?
We welcome new patients, offer second opinions, and can provide updated assessments of conditions already being managed elsewhere. We encourage questions at every appointment and provide clear explanations of your diagnosis, test results, and next steps so you can make informed decisions about your health. No two treatment plans look the same here, because no two patients are the same.
Five decades of independent rheumatology practice mean we’ve seen what focused care can do for patients over the long term. When you’re ready to take that next step, we’re here.
